"South Sudan Needs Its Own Economic Philosophy," Says Top 2025 S.4 Candidate as He Dreams of Transforming Nation’s Economy


The top-performing student in South Sudan’s 2025 Certificate of Secondary Education Examination has set his sights on becoming an economist, saying he wants to help the country develop homegrown economic solutions that reflect the realities of its people rather than relying solely on imported models.

Maduet Mangong Maduet, who emerged as the best candidate nationwide after scoring an impressive aggregate of 88.9 percent in the Arts section, believes that South Sudan’s future economic success depends on policies and strategies designed specifically for local communities.

The talented student from Darling Wisdom Academy Secondary School (Pentagon Campus) shared his vision shortly after the Ministry of General Education and Instruction announced the national examination results, which were eagerly awaited by thousands of students across the country.

Speaking about his ambitions, Maduet said he has closely observed the economic difficulties facing South Sudan and feels compelled to contribute to meaningful change.

“I want to study Economics because I have observed many challenges facing our economy,” he said.
