Kang made the claims on Monday as he continued presenting his defense in a high-profile treason trial linked to the March 2025 violence in Nasir County, Upper Nile State.
Addressing the court, the former minister said he had repeatedly sought medical treatment while being held in National Security Service detention facilities but was unable to receive adequate care despite his worsening condition.
According to Kang, his health problems were aggravated by prolonged detention conditions, including isolation, lack of exposure to sunlight, and restrictions on receiving visitors and medication.
“I have been suffering from ulcers and vomiting blood while in detention,” Kang told the court, arguing that his condition worsened because he was denied timely medical attention.
The suspended minister said he was only allowed to seek treatment after a court order was issued in October 2025 authorizing his transfer to a medical facility.
