In an appreciation letter dated April 8, 2026, Kumba thanked the President for the trust and confidence he placed in her during her tenure, which began in August 2021.
She made history as the first female Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, serving during a crucial period in the country’s political transition.
“I write to convey my deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation for the trust and confidence you placed in me to serve as the first female Speaker,” Kumba stated.
She described her time in office as both an honour and a significant responsibility, noting that she led Parliament at a time when South Sudan continues to navigate its path toward lasting peace, stability, and national unity.
According to Kumba, her leadership focused on strengthening legislative processes and supporting the broader peace agenda.
“It has been my profound honour to be entrusted with such responsibility at a time when our nation continues to navigate the path towards lasting peace, stability, and nation building,” she added.
