A leadership battle has erupted within the People's Democratic Movement (PDM) after one faction announced the removal of party chairperson and former Vice President Josephine Joseph Lagu, while another faction rejected the move and described it as unconstitutional......WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
The dispute became public after a group of party members released a statement claiming they had removed Lagu from her position following what they called consultations, internal assessments, and a review of her leadership performance.
The group accused Lagu of poor leadership, nepotism, corruption, weakening internal democracy, and creating divisions within both the party and the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA).
According to the statement, Josephine Lagu no longer represents the party in any official, political, or public capacity.
The group also announced the appointment of Mathew John Barnaba as interim chairperson until a general assembly is held to choose new leadership.
