"I Said No": Newly Appointed Petroleum Ministry DG Claims He Has Been Blocked From Taking Office for Over Two Months

A senior government official appointed to South Sudan's Ministry of Petroleum has claimed that he has been prevented from taking up his duties more than two months after receiving his appointment......WATCH THE VIDEO HERE. 

Achuil Akoch Magardit, the newly appointed Director General for Administration and Finance, said he was officially appointed on March 30, 2026, following a decision by the Council of Ministers. 

The decision directed the Ministry of Public Service to appoint and assign Directors General for Administration and Finance to various national ministries.

According to Achuil, he was assigned to the Ministry of Petroleum and reported for duty on April 3. He said he was accompanied by the Minister of Public Service for the official handover ceremony.
